Monthly Intention: FREEDOM
Oh hey! It’s me… obviously 🤣
Did you miss me last week? I was going to post about our new monthly intention and then, considering it was Freedom, I decided it was more appropriate to let you have some time to sit with the word and decide how you felt, before I shared how I felt. This is a far more controversial topic and mindset than I thought it would be. As I mentioned before, I just share what I am guided to share and my goodness did this ever keep coming through as an intention. I believe this is a HUGE trigger for people right now, especially in our current climate. Most people might automatically assume I’ve picked this word to pick a fight. Listen I’m a lover, not a fighter… I’m here as a light anchor, controversy is NOT my jam. My only purpose is to spark something within you, to get you to think and act for yourself and your greatest and highest good. Definitely ain’t here to tell you how to live your life - I’m no expert, just ask me, I will tell you 🤦🏻♀️
So why Freedom?
Great question. My initial reaction to the word (after my actual initial reaction of “ No, I’m not using this word) was “makes total sense”. Spring is coming, the weather is nicer, we are more free to be outside, move and have fun. Then of course the questioner in me started to wonder what the actual meaning behind us being given this word was, and well well well, wouldn’t you know that we were about to enter a lock down again. Hmmmm… interesting timing? Check mate Universe. I want to start this off by saying, DEAR GOD if you are going to label me a “conspiracy theorist” because I acknowledge my free thinking and free will and do not believe in the narrative and programming we all receive, then please, let me show you the door. I’m not here for anyone beating up on or berating anyone else. I’m here for it all. Share with me all your thoughts and feelings of what is and isn’t happening, because I have developed the trust and discernment in my own mind and body to know what is true for me. That folks, is the key to my freedom. But ok, enough on that rant.
Freedom is something I have been struggling a lot with lately… do I say that about everything? There is struggle in growth, and that is ok, so yes I probably do struggle with a lot of things, especially lately. Freedom is a big one for me. For my soul to feel happy and fulfilled I have to have Freedom - legit, ask my counsellor. I have been on a journey to figure out just what Freedom means to me and how to get it. You would think that just because I left my 9 to 5 job I would suddenly feel free all the time. But that is not how this 3D world works currently. I still need to work, make money, buy groceries, cook dinner, see other humans, etc. I’m not free to just hide in the woods all day, or run off on some tropical vacation.
So what does my soul need to feel that Freedom?
I’ve started looking at the little ways that I can accomplish the feeling of Freedom. I still time block my schedule, but I let it shift and flow with my energy. I go outside for my walks. I take a lunch break, and ya I watch TV if I want. I say no to a lot more things that I don’t want to do, which isn’t hard right now. I have found little ways to incorporate Freedom throughout my routine. I let it be an important part of my routine. YES, you can have Freedom with structure! Everything does not need to be so black and white - tell that to me 4 years ago! I thought that all structure and schedules and responsibilities was part of what made me so sick, but I know now that is not the case. It is the way in which I was living through that season in my life. I can have Freedom with structure and dedication and hard work. The difference is that my structure is no longer 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. I schedule or “time block” things that are important to me, not just to societies viewpoints of success. The more I reflect, the more I realize all that was missing from my life was balance. The balance between Freedom and structure. For example, morning routine or morning self-care is now a part of my daily schedule. It is a non-negotiable for me because I am now aware that I can work for 2 to 3 hour time blocks and accomplish SO MUCH MORE than I ever could in a 9 to 5. Do you know how many studies have been done on how your brain functions and the importance of breaks? I’ll leave this link here as an introduction. So, I work in these 2 to 3 hour time blocks, and then I schedule ACTIVE down time.
What does active down time mean?
This means I am as dedicated to my down time or “break” as I am committed to my work block. I step out of my office, close the computer and do something I enjoy. In most cases I also take a break from my phone. Yes, I do schedule social media time… no, I’m not always perfect at that, but I’m learning. I know I have worked hard, with no distractions (phone down, emails closed, etc) so I deserve my break. I enjoy it to the fullest without guilt! That is the key to gaining Freedom with this schedule. I fully commit to my time block so that I am getting fulfillment from whatever time block I am in. If I’m on my break and have a bunch of ideas, I will journal and get those thoughts out, but still honour my active down time. I allow a creative brain storming session to be part of the active down time if that is fuelling my soul and happiness. Are you getting the idea here? Scheduled, but free flowing? I set my goals in the morning, and if I accomplish those goals I celebrate myself and do not add 30 more things to the list to do.
YES, a full day of self-care counts in my schedule!
I’m still healing. So part of my schedule or routine includes healing time. Call that self-care if you will. When did self-care become such a bad thing? Don’t answer that yet, we have a whole other conversion coming on this 😉. Self-care is just as important as any other time block. Honestly, ask any multi-figure CEO (I have red lots of books and listened to lots of podcast) and do you know what they all have in common? They have balance in their routine, they prioritize their self care routines!! YES! These people are extremely successful, and credit much of their success and ability to perform, with their ability to balance their lives and commit to their self care practices. But enough about that.
… Back to Freedom
As you can see, this word, this mindset, is much bigger and goes much deep than just using the term “free”. This goes deep into our own being, deep into our social programming, deep into our personal mindset. Freedom, like any other of our mindsets, is a practice. You have to actively find, nourish and assert your Freedom every day. When you need that little boost to remind you that you are deserving of your freedom and your hearts desires; regardless of how big or small those desires may be, you are welcome to use this months affirmation. I also wanted to bring awareness and be specific that we are talking about our “heart’s” desires. There is a big difference between what we thing we desire or “need” and what our heart and our soul truly desire to feel free and fulfilled. Tuning into your heart over your head / ego, I invite you to explore how your desires and Freedom feel different depending on the source. See if you notice the difference between wants and needs, between your heart and your head, between society standards and your inner desires. You are a being of free will, regardless of what you have been trained to otherwise believe, do not let anything or anyone tell you otherwise.
Practice your inner trust, practice your Freedom, practice following your heart.
Much Love 🤍✌🏻
